Finance Manager

We’re working with a well-established, privately owned construction business (circa £40m–£100m turnover) seeking to appoint a Qualified Finance Manager into a senior, influential role with a clear route toward board-level involvement.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused position for someone who wants ownership, visibility and the chance to shape how finance supports the wider business.

This is an office-based role (08:30–17:30). Flexibility is used pragmatically rather than formally, with an emphasis on collaboration, visibility and teamwork—particularly in the early stages.

The Opportunity

You’ll work closely with the senior finance lead and leadership team, acting as a trusted business partner across operations and commercial functions. This is a long-term hire, with the current finance lead remaining in post for several years to support continuity and succession planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, analysis and board reporting
• Maintaining strong financial controls, processes and internal audit disciplines
• Business partnering with commercial and operational teams to support decision-making
• Review and audit of CVRs and project financial performance alongside senior stakeholders
• Oversight of payroll, statutory reporting and compliance deadlines
• Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
• Driving process improvement, efficiency and best-practice financial reporting
• Managing and developing a small support team
• Liaising with external auditors, advisors, customers and supply-chain partners

What They’re Looking For

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience with in a £40m–£100m turnover environment
• Comfortable managing a small team and taking full ownership of the finance function
• Commercially astute with the confidence to challenge and improve processes
• Construction experience highly desirable but not essential
• Someone with energy, presence and a long-term mindset
