Are you a seasoned concrete pro who loves being out in the field and leading a team?
JKT Development Inc. is looking for a hands‑on Concrete Superintendent to join our team on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. This is a full-time, benefited position.
This isn't a "sit behind the desk" role. You’ll be the lead expert on‑site—overseeing daily operations for Jamestown Concrete while actively pouring, leveling, and smoothing surfaces ranging from roads and sidewalks to curbs and floors. You’ll combine your technical mastery of concrete finishes with leadership skills to ensure every project meets our high standards of quality and safety.
Essential FunctionsLeadership & Management: Oversee daily work for Jamestown Concrete, complete annual employee performance appraisals, and provide hands‑on training for workers on specialized tools.
Technical Execution: Design, build, and set forms; read and interpret plans, concrete details, and survey layouts.
The Pour: Direct casting with truck drivers, safely operate power vibrators for compaction, and use rakes, trowels, floats, and screeds (both hand and power) to achieve a perfect finish.
Finishing & Detail: Mold expansion joints, polish surfaces with power machines, apply sealants/hardeners, and utilize decorative elements like stains, colors, or stone.
Quality Control: Monitor weather effects on the curing process, inspect surfaces for pouring issues, and ensure proper use of reinforcement (wire mesh or rebar).
Equipment Operation: Confidently operate small equipment including skid steers, mini‑excavators, and forklifts.
Outdoor Work: Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions, seasons, and in trenches or confined spaces.
Stamina: Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs+ unassisted and handle prolonged standing, walking, bending, climbing, and shovel‑work.
Dexterity: High level of eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Flexibility: Available to work any shift, including weekends and holidays as project deadlines require.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of work experience as a concrete laborer or mason.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Technical
Skills:
Ability to read technical drawings/plans and a deep familiarity with various concrete mixes and finishes.Certifications: Valid Driver’s License and the ability to pass a criminal background investigation.
Communication: Effective written and verbal skills; ability to give clear hand signals and instructions to equipment operators.
