Position Overview
As part of the talented Freedom Boat Club team (the nation’s oldest and largest private member boat club), you will work with a team of Dock Staff on a large variety fleet of boats, fulfilling a key role as a Club Manager. You will drive a remarkable member experience, oversee a fleet of vessels, and develop strong teams. In addition to running daily logistics, the Club Manager is expected to perform all duties required of Dock Staff.
This position is full‑time (approximately 40 hours‑per‑week) and requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Functions- Hire, train and supervise all dock staff to ensure member safety and a high level of service.
- Develop and monitor dock staff schedules, review and approve payroll, and work the dock a minimum of 30 hours per week.
- Review and analyze member comments weekly and take appropriate action.
- Ensure all best practices and SOPs are followed as detailed in the dock manual.
- Maintain accurate fuel logs and schedule regular vessel fueling.
- Create and execute a weekly cleaning and maintenance schedule.
- Submit work orders and parts supplies in Fleetio.
- Correspond with members on all dock‑related issues.
- Investigate member misconduct and escalate incident reports to your manager.
- Build positive relationships with local marina managers and harbor masters.
- Become familiar with local waterways and popular boating destinations and provide information to members and staff.
- Provide process improvement input and suggestions.
- Establish and maintain a positive, cooperative team culture.
- High school degree.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Pass a background/education check and drug screen.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Highly effective communication and customer service skills.
- Desire to perform minor boat maintenance (oil, filters, bilge pump, etc.).
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including carrying equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to read and manipulate handheld tablets.
- Ability to adhere to all safety policies.
- Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience with boats and marine environments.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and positive during high activity periods.
- Cooperative attitude with capability to work unsupervised.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Work in a marina setting on docks that may be fixed or floating.
- Work near and on the water.
- Safely move on, off, and in vessels during various tide and weather conditions.
Anticipated pay rate for this position is $20.00/hr the actual base pay offered will vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, and geographic location.
