Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role with EPIC EMR experience and a South Carolina or compact license required.
Responsibilities- Work in a 10-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in step-down patients
- Cares for adult and geriatric patients, including those transferring from ICU
- Common cases include respiratory failure, sepsis, heart failure, DKA/HHS, alcohol withdrawal, and overdose
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30) with every other weekend required
- Must be willing to float to other qualified units or campuses as needed
- EPIC EMR is used and 1 year of recent EPIC experience is required
- Responsibilities include monitoring, managing, and delivering progressive care for high-acuity step-down patients
- Team will include support from other nursing and interdisciplinary staff
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- All time off requests must be included at time of application and are subject to facility approval
- Applicants must reside more than 50 miles from the contracted campus to be eligible for travel consideration for night shifts; under 50 miles is ineligible
- Expectations include coverage for assigned holidays as required
- Active SC or compact state RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 1 year recent PCU or progressive care experience
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial and central line management, care of ventilated patients, and use of external CPAP/BiPAP
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Strong understanding of isolation precautions
- Floating only to areas where qualified and competent
