Works cooperatively with department staff, all hospital departments and the Medical Staff.

Job Summary

Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and/or diagnostic imaging.

Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic and radiographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations.

Responsibilities
  • Carriers out directives in a positive manner and accepts responsibility for follow‑up.
  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Uses independent judgement during the sonographic examination to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the department.
  • Takes quality radiographs as directed by practitioner.
  • Aids and assists practitioners in techniques that require technical assistance.
  • Operates the CT scanner efficiently (may be trained on the job after hire‑on).
  • Works scheduled hours yet is flexible with the schedule to meet the needs of the department and provides on‑call service in a rotation with other employees.
  • Assists in maintaining the department’s QI requirements.
  • Maintains proper safety precautions for patients and staff.
  • Assists in scheduling patients for the department, both in‑house and mobile services.
  • Assists in charging the patient and ensuring that this is done correctly.
  • Assists in maintaining equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining the department’s filing system and shredding of papers, when indicated.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Ensures for an effective, reliable consistent flow of information to and from other departments of the facility.
  • Positively promotes NVCH throughout the facility and the community.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Must have experience in general, vascular, and/or cardiac ultrasound modalities.
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Sciences.
  • Certified/Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Registration:
    Current CPR/BLS Certification.
  • Registry by ARDMS with one or more of the following credentials: RDMS, RDCS, RVT.
