Position SummaryThis is the fourth level of the non‑Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the Career level for the job hierarchy. Senior Engineering Technologist performs technical evaluations and documents the technical and quality requirements necessary to procure, receive, stock, and maintain safety‑related, risk‑informed, and augmented‑quality parts and services used across the nuclear fleet. The role reviews and interprets design documents, engineering evaluations, vendor information, regulatory requirements, and system configuration data to establish accurate technical and quality specifications.
The position provides the technical basis for replenishment strategies, shelf‑life determinations, catalog configuration, Purchase Requisition development, Bill of Material control, and contract technical requirements. The role provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in area of expertise. The technologist serves as a key technical interface between Engineering, Supply Chain, Work Management, Operations, Vendor Quality, and external suppliers—ensuring procurement activities align with design‑basis, regulatory, and operational requirements.
The role supports Corrective Action Program investigations, obsolescence and critical spares programs, Parts Quality Initiative tasks, IER 21‑4 implementation, and the technical disposition of receipt inspection issues, vendor technical documentation, and inter‑site transfers. This position requires proficiency in nuclear procurement engineering processes including QSL verification, Critical Digital Asset requirements, commercial‑grade dedication principles, IER 21‑4 technical evaluation, equipment configuration control, and technical governance of procurement activities.
This position ensures that all procurement recommendations support safe, reliable, and cost‑effective nuclear operations while upholding the highest standards of technical rigor, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. Senior Engineering Technologist independently performs complex engineering evaluations, establishes technical and quality requirements for procurement, and provides authoritative technical input to Supply Chain, Engineering, and station organizations. The position ensures regulatory alignment, leads technical investigations, interprets engineering analyses, evaluates vendor information, and manages technical backlog and program responsibilities.
Technical Evaluation & Requirements Development
- Performs engineering‑based technical evaluations to determine the correct technical and quality requirements for procurement that Supply Chain depends on for compliant purchasing activity. Develops and documents technical specifications, acceptance criteria, design attributes, and procurement requirements for nuclear safety related materials and services.
- Reviews and interprets design documents, engineering evaluations, vendor technical information, system configuration information, regulatory requirements, and repair history to establish accurate technical and quality requirements.
- Establishes shelf‑life parameters, material interchangeability determinations, and configuration‑controlled catalog attributes based on engineering principles.
Lifecycle‑Based Procurement Decision Support (Upstream & Downstream)
