Position Scope
The Job You Will Perform:
Job responsibilities will include interacting with mill operations personnel on a day-to-day basis, as well as performing routine financial assignments. These assignments can include measuring progress against meeting various objectives, analyzing business results, developing an annual budget and preparing short-term forecasts.
- Work closely with a variety of leaders within the department and mill to deliver on responsibilities.
- Display safety leadership above all things and at all times.
- Actively participate as a member of a business unit.
- Review and analyze key performance measures and variances.
- Develop the annual budget and assure that product cost information is accurate.
- Monthly reporting and communication of financial performance against objectives.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial and operating statistical information for the identification of potential business problems and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance of efficient internal controls on all transactions of company assets and interests, including legal, state and local taxes and insurance claims.
- Maintain accurate books and records in accordance with GAAP and corporate policies.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives within the finance business unit and the mill.
- Develop tools that increase visibility of process impacts on mill financial performance and increase accuracy of monthly forecasting.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field is required.
- Pulp and paper mill experience with at least five (5) years of industry experience is preferred.
- Personally exhibit safety as a core value and effectively communicate a shared vision for safety.
- Possess leadership, interpersonal skills, and the ability to drive change.
- Represent company policy and direction, and actively advocate for department needs and concerns.
- Quickly develop thorough knowledge of department and mill operations, processes, equipment, and systems.
- Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels.
- Engage all team members in area, department, and mill.
- Distill large amounts of data into actionable information.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Work effectively within a team.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Analyze problems and develop solutions independently or with teams.
- Make timely and effective decisions.
