Job Summary
We’re seeking an experienced Extrusion Operator Specialist to support the growing needs of our R&D Team within Deckorators business. The successful candidate will work closely with the R&D staff to accelerate Product Development Cycle and New Product Introduction by acting as the floor liaison with production & maintenance teams. A high degree of initiatives and resilience to challenges is expected.
- Based on trial plans, prepare the line(s) to execute trials: prepare materials.
- Set up dies and calibrators.
- Set up equipment in varied other configurations.
- Startup.
- Identify, track, and collect samples.
- Record and communicate process data.
- Monitor, record, and communicate any anomalies.
- Operate the line with non-standard procedures on a routine basis.
- Develop in depth understanding of equipment and processes, troubleshoot and address issues.
- Conduct testing on product properties including standard QC tests and specialized non‑QC tests; monitor and report any excursions observed.
- Assist in other functions of the R&D and engineering teams as directed.
- Self‑driven to meet project goals in a timely manner.
- Work under minimal supervision with project priorities in mind.
- Treat ownership of the trial line and materials to plan and execute trials efficiently.
- Assume accountability for assigned tasks and stay on schedule.
- Be flexible to adapt to changing work environment and priorities.
- Be willing to take more responsibilities as the job requires and evolves.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Extrusion or testing experience in extruded building products industry is a plus.
- Working knowledge of polymer processing analysis, testing and equipment.
- Excellent mechanical and analytical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership.
- Sense of urgency and accountability.
- Proactive communication.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience, or an Associate/Bachelor degree in engineering, applied or physical sciences.
The work schedule is a weekday daytime; to meet trial objectives, some flexibility on working hours is expected.
