Nutrition Service Worker Substitute (Open for the School Year)
Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute in the Indian River School District.
Application Process- Complete an online application at
- Click on the “Employment Opportunities” menu on the website and select the position you are interested in, then click “Apply.”
- You will be directed to the Join Delaware Schools applicant page where you can log in if you have an existing account or, for new users, click “Start an application for employment.”
- List three (3) professional references with their email addresses. (References from friends or family members are not accepted.) Let them know they will receive an email survey; if it is not in their inbox, tell them to check their junk mail.

- Once the substitute application is complete, forward the following items to :
- Fingerprint receipt – Fingerprinting procedures can be found on the Human Resources website or click here to go directly to the scheduling website. The cost is $85.00 and the Service Code for Substitutes is 27

8. - TB Test Results – You may submit a previous TB test taken within the last 5 years.
- A copy of your driver’s license and signed social security card.
- A copy of your high school diploma or transcript.
- If you have a college degree, please send an unofficial copy of your college transcripts.
Your application will not be processed, nor will you be contacted, until we receive all of the required documents listed above. Once you have completed the steps above and received a clean criminal background check, Suzanne will e‑mail you the HR documents that you will need to submit to complete the onboarding process.

Description- Participates in the preparation, cooking, and baking of a variety of foods.
- Stores leftover foods properly.
- Performs necessary cleanup work.
- Represents the school and the school district in an ethical and professional manner at all times.
- Is physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and 50 feet.
- Clean Criminal Background Check, TB test and child protection registry clearance must be completed prior to the start of employment.
