Golf Cart Mechanic

PAY GROUP: TP 16

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Part-Time Golf Cart Mechanic will perform a variety of skilled work in the routing service and maintenance of battery operated golf cars and related equipment. This is a part-time position which normally works less than 20 hours per week and is not eligible for City benefits.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Maintains battery operated golf cart fleet through a scheduled routine maintenance program;
Conducts routine inspection of carts to ensure that cart is fully operational, i.e. battery is fully charged, tires inflated etc.;
Maintains parts inventory, orders supplies and parts, and keeps records on maintenance repairs and replacements;
Collects trash and any leftover items from cart and cleans cart prior to returning it to service;
Promotes facility, programs, and events while projecting a positive image to customers;
Communicates with the golf shop frequently for unusual or special instructions regarding carts;
May assist customers with any on-course problems and alerts appropriate supervisor if necessary;
May assist with golf cart rental operation; and
Observes safety rules and procedures.

Other Important Duties
* Performs such other duties as may be required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: servicing methods for battery operated golf carts; principles and methods of preventative maintenance; and safe working practices;
Ability to: follow written and oral instructions; use a wide variety of hand tools, maintain maintenance records, lift and handle electric storage batteries; and establish and maintain effective working rela tion ships with other city employees and with the general public.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High school diploma, or its equivalent.
One year of experience performing maintenance, service and cleaning of electric golf carts.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Appropriate Texas driver's license or alternate means of transportation to and from work.
