Position: 6C02 - MG Quality - SFS - SAFETY SUPERVISOR

Safety Supervisor

Supervise and direct the Regulatory & Safety programs designed to ensure continuous production of reclosable plastic bags consistent with company and customer standards and requirements. Supervise and direct the training program. Oversee adherence to Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) standards, Safe Quality Food (SQF) Code, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HAACP) methodology, Customs Trade-Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Social Compliance Program, and other regulatory requirements.

Ensure that GFSI, Social Compliance, and customer standards are met with global partners such as Minigrip Thailand, China, and future vendors. Monitor safety-related incidents and ensure paperwork accuracy and compliance. Additionally, this position will assist in direct efforts towards continual safety improvement.

Qualifications
  • College degree or 5+ years equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a quality system in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental laws
  • Experience in Technical writing skills (SOPs, Work Instructions, Near Miss, and Recordable reports)
  • Ability to understand and apply systematic critical thinking skills such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis
  • Experience working with GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001, Safety, Health, and Environment, and GMP processes.
  • Be competent in statistical process control (SPC) and/or other quality tools to reduce process variation and drive root cause analysis of non-conformities.
  • Experience with auditors and customers in an audit environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and computer-based training software
  • Ability to train groups of people.
  • Ability to make decisions based on company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities
  • Developing Annual Safety Training Plan and Safe & Sound program/activities.
  • Train and test all employees according to the annual safety training schedule.
  • Prepare & maintain employee training records. Maintain updated records in Ground Control.
  • Oversee the completion of First Aid Responder and Bloodborne Pathogen Training.

    Manage the Code Red training program.
  • Manage the forklift training and certification program.
  • Assist with personnel injury reports.
  • Assist with accident investigations and ensure that accident follow-up recommendations are completed promptly.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log.
  • Attend and lead safety committee meetings.
  • Revise & update Employee Safety Manual.
  • Revise & update Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Oversee risk assessment and maintain continuous audits on machinery for improvement, ensuring PPE requirements are updated.
  • Conduct routine Safety & Health Inspections.
  • Conduct routine audits of First Aid Kits and ensure adequate inventory levels.
  • Maintain MSDS records and online system. Conduct a chemical cabinet audit.
  • Keep plant safety rules updated.
  • Work closely with all personnel to continue having a safe working atmosphere.
  • Assist with customer complaints and the corrective action process.
  • Assist with plant-wide qualifications as needed.
  • Conduct a monthly GMP audit
  • Conduct a quarterly Pest Control Audit
  • Conduct a quarterly Brittle Glass and Plastic Audit
  • Conduct monthly inspections (Eyewash Stations, first aid kits, fire extinguishers)
  • Conduct a Fire Prevention Checklist
  • Work with appropriate individuals to conduct an annual review of SOPs and plans
  • Plan and conduct monthly safety meetings with all Minigrip employees
  • Work with all functional areas to implement and maintain a quality safety system that meets or exceeds customer requirements.
  • Along with the Manager, implement cost-reduction programs and supervise costs related to quality assurance.
