This is an excellent opportunity for Associate Counselors (i.e., LPC-Associate, LMSW, and LMFT-Associate) to gain clinical experience!
Under the direction of the Youth and Family Services Manager, this position works with youth and their families to deliver therapeutic mental health services in accordance with best‑practice standards, evidence‑based interventions, and individualized recovery planning. Services include skills training and psychosocial rehabilitation and may include case management, intakes, and hospital discharge follow‑up appointments. Services are provided in BTCS facilities, community locations, and/or clients’ homes;
they may be delivered in person or via tele‑video as appropriate. The primary focus will be on Guadalupe County School District counseling referrals.
Services provided by this position promote recovery, wellness, community integration, stable living, and improved quality of life. A high level of detailed electronic documentation is required, and the applicant must adhere to company and state guidelines. A minimum of 55% of hours worked must be direct services. The candidate will work independently and on a team, prioritize needs during crisis situations, attend regular meetings and training opportunities, and perform other duties as assigned with a positive attitude.
Other responsibilities include consulting with staff one‑on‑one or in small groups and participating in strategic or program planning for the delivery of mental‑health services. This position is one discipline of a multidisciplinary team and may serve as the primary service provider for a client or family system or act as a consultant.
Essential Functions- Builds and maintains a therapeutic relationship with individuals through engagement.
- Provides psychosocial rehabilitation and links individuals with community support.
- Performs assessments to identify strengths and needs.
- Completes person‑centered recovery plans, developing goals and objectives with individuals.
- Completes documentation in a timely manner.
- Has initiative and works well in ambiguity.
- Engages individuals based on a personalized level of care.
- Completes assessments within the expected time frame (180 days).
- Completes recovery plans to guide treatment.
- Is a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Has access to ongoing training.

Associate Counselor: $22.51 – $30.26/hr
Counselor: $31.80 – $38.55/hr

Applicable Differentials- $1.00/hr for 2 years at BTCS
- $1.00/hr for 4 years at BTCS
- $1.00/hr for 6 years at BTCS
- $1.00/hr for 2 years previous experience with a community center in a similar role
- $1.00/hr for 4 years previous experience with a community center in a similar role

CredentialsMinimum Qualifications
A master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field AND current licensure by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate.
Must be able to obtain full licensure within 6 months of hire.
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment.
Preferred QualificationsBilingual, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.
