JOB SUMMARY
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care. He/She must have the ability to assess, evaluate, identify and interpret the required anesthetic needs of the patients with performance based upon those findings. This individual is trained and capable of performing patient care for the age groups from newborn through the lifespan. The CRNA reports directly to the Director of Anesthesiology.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:- RN graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- Certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
Licensure/Certification:- Must have valid, current license as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES
Cooperates with the Hospital by the performance of duties assigned, under the direction and supervision on the Hospital, and following Employee policies that apply to Physicians. Attends Medical Staff meetings.Exercises diligence to assist Hospital in keeping controllable costs of medical services to a minimum, including participation in utilization review and peer review programs.Performs work and functions and provides service in a competent, ethical and professional manner. Ensures adequate coverage during absences and provides this information to the Hospital in a timely fashion so that proper arrangements can be made.Devotes full professional practice time to patients requiring services provided within the Hospital. Utilizes every effort to encourage the growth of services at the Hospital while increasing productivity.Acquires CME credits as needed and provides Hospital with copy of the certificate of completion.Provides appropriate documentation of the patient’s condition during procedures to communicate effectively with other anesthesia, as well as to comply with regulatory requirements and appropriate billing.Provides appropriate supervision of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the care of patients.REQUIRED STAFF COMPETENCIES
