TMS is looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the continuous operation of our heavy equipment in the steel mill. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery and heavy equipment, including cranes, forklifts, conveyors, and other mill-specific machinery.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM with every other weekend on call as overtime. Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 depending on experience.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on heavy equipment and machinery, including cranes, forklifts, and conveyors.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy equipment and perform necessary repairs.
- Troubleshoot and identify mechanical malfunctions and electrical faults to minimize downtime.
- Inspect and maintain components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Replace worn or damaged parts and perform preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure that machinery is operational and safe for use.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report repairs, service history, and parts usage.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure that equipment is working in accordance with safety regulations.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and machinery when needed.
- Support emergency repairs as needed during unscheduled downtime.
- High school diploma or GED (additional technical certifications preferred).
- Proven experience (minimum 2-3 years) working as a mechanic on heavy industrial equipment or machinery.
- Proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and metalworking is a plus.
- Valid driver's license; ability to operate company vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
