Short Description / Compensation: Role starts at $82k+. Negotiable depending on experience. Weekly production bonus and yearly profit-sharing bonus. Competitive benefits package. The Automation Engineer collaborates with Maintenance and Production teams to maximize safety and optimize Nucor Rebar Fabrication processes.
Responsibilities- Training team members across locations to support consistent performance and knowledge sharing.
- Using engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to troubleshoot and improve both the process and equipment.
- Developing and implementing improvement plans involving both hardware and software systems.
- Providing support outside of normal business hours as needed, including flexible scheduling for unscheduled and scheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Assisting with regional maintenance initiatives and supporting cross-site collaboration.
- Adapting to evolving responsibilities as assigned by the area Supervisor/Manager in response to operational needs.
- Traveling regularly to other regional NRF locations to identify improvement opportunities, resolve issues, and share best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Process, Electrical, Automation Engineering or related field OR
- 2 years of industrial maintenance and automation experience
- ASA software experience
- 2 - 3 years of experience in a reinforcing steel fabrication environment
- Some heavy lifting may be necessary
- Working conditions can be noisy, dusty, hot or cold
- Due to operating conditions, this is a safety sensitive position
- Frequent travel to regional branches
