Systems Engineer
LHH is seeking a Senior Staff Manufacturing IT Systems Engineer to join our client's team in a full-time, on-site role in Secaucus, NJ.
The Senior Staff Manufacturing IT Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting and evolving a complex manufacturing IT environment. This role focuses on on‑premises and hybrid infrastructure, virtualization, storage, automation, and Linux‑centric systems, with strong integration across Microsoft and open‑source technologies. The position also serves as a technical team lead, providing architectural guidance and hands‑on engineering support.
This role requires the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and highly available technology solutions.

- Design, implement, and maintain highly available Linux and Windows server platforms across on‑premises and hybrid cloud environments.
- Manage and optimize virtualization platforms and enterprise storage systems to ensure performance, resilience, and cost efficiency.
- Lead and support on‑prem infrastructure services, including virtualization, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions.
- Architect and operate service discovery, workload orchestration, secrets management, PKI, and secure access solutions in production environments.
- Standardize and scale infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using automation and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
- Develop automation and tooling to streamline operations, integrate APIs, reduce manual effort, and improve system observability.
- Create, update, and maintain scripts for Linux, Windows, and configuration management platforms, with a strong focus on Python and YAML.
- Participate in the design and implementation of new systems and infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve business processes, systems, and operational efficiency.
- Plan and execute server migrations, deployments, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Monitor critical systems and applications, analyze performance, and recommend hardware or software improvements.
- Engage and manage third‑party vendors to drive timely issue resolution.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, specifications, procedures, runbooks, and change logs.
- Document system changes, fixes, incidents, and root cause analyses in accordance with established standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 8+ years of systems engineering experience in large, complex enterprise environments, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
- Working knowledge of Public Cloud-based solutions and APIs.
- 8+ years of Linux experience
- 8+ years VMware/virtual server experience & working knowledge of vSphere console, vMotion, and VMware management.
- Knowledge of API and API development
- 4+ years of Dev Ops experience
- 4+ years of hands‑on experience with orchestration and automation
- Working proficiency of Python & YAML required
- 4+ years of Ansible experience (or similar tools)
- 4+ years of enterprise storage platforms experience with NFS/SMB/CIFS and storage solutions including, but not limited to, QNAP, Pure, HPE, Netapp,
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory architecture and support including:
Group Policy, Replication, DNS, User and Group Management. - Show an understanding of Information Security best practices.
- Ability to produce and adhere to documentation:
Visio, Run books, Project Plans, Root Cause Analysis. - Strong documentation and communication skills applicable to a Customer Service role.
