Financial Manager, CFO
I’m partnering with a truly special company in Sonoma County that lives by a “Mindful Building” philosophy, a people-first approach that values craftsmanship, collaboration, and balance just as much as results. The team is deeply aligned, supportive, and grounded in respect, with leadership that is present, approachable, and invested in their people long term. Everyone works a similiar schedule (7:30 AM–4:00 PM, fully on-site) to stay connected to the work and to each other, creating a unique culture of partnership and shared purpose.
This is a hands‑on Controller opportunity where you’ll be a key voice at the leadership table, work directly with the CEO and ownership, and have an opportunity for growth as the company continues to evolve.
- Acting as the right hand to the CEO, supporting strategic and day‑to‑day financial decisions
- Owning the full accounting function in a highly hands‑on environment
- Managing cash flow, forecasting, and financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Leading month‑end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controls
- Overseeing job cost tracking, labor and overhead analysis, and project financial health reporting
- Managing AP, AR, payroll oversight, compliance reporting, and creditor relationships
- Partnering with Project Managers and operations to audit jobs at key completion milestones
- Driving process improvements, cost optimization, and financial risk mitigation
- Supervising and mentoring accounting staff while building strong team structure and workflows
- Supporting budgeting, long‑range planning, and board‑level financial reporting
- 8–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally within construction
- Current or prior Controller‑level experience strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of construction accounting, job costing, and project‑based financials (WIP a plus)
- Experience with GAAP, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Hands‑on leadership style with strong operational instincts
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to work across multiple leadership personalities
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, people‑first mindset
- Experience with systems such as Premier, Procore, or similar construction platforms is a plus
- Desire to grow long‑term with a company
This is an opportunity to join a stable, values‑driven organization where the culture is intentional, the leadership is engaged, and the work is meaningful. If you’re someone who enjoys being close to the business, partnering with great people, and building something for the long term, I’d love to connect.
