The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Athletic Department as the Boys Varsity Assistant Golf Coach – Playoffs Only. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s goals toward building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. The Boys Varsity Assistant Golf Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach throughout the spring playoff stretch, including planning and leading practices, coaching matches, and transporting the team to off-campus sites in a school vehicle.

At Bush, boys golf is a split-season sport, with regular season play in the fall and postseason competition (conference and state championships) in the spring. In collaboration with the Athletic Department and Head Golf Coach, the Playoff Coach will support and prepare 8 to 10 boys golf student-athletes who have qualified for postseason play. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.

The golf spring playoff season begins on Monday, April 6, 2026, and continues through the conclusion of the state tournament on May 20, 2026. Practices are held Monday through Thursday between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. and will not exceed two hours per day. Practices typically take place at Jefferson Park Golf Course and other local golf courses. Coaches generally meet athletes on campus, travel together to the practice or match site, and return to Bush at the end of the day.

There is the possibility of being retained on the coaching staff for the 2026–27 school year, which includes regular season play in the fall and postseason competition in the spring.

  • Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, training methods, and safety practices
  • Commun with athletic department staff effectively and promptly
  • Attend meetings and trainings scheduled by the Athletic Director
  • Handle student health forms with confidentiality, be aware of individual health concerns, and respond appropriately to medical needs
  • Comply with all school, conference, and state policies and regulations
Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of golf
  • Coaching experience and certification preferred
  • Ability and willingness to be a team player
  • Satisfactory criminal background check that meets school standards
  • Safe driving record that meets school standards
  • Ability to work and connect with people
  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Enthusiasm to contribute, grow, and develop as a member of the Blazers Athletic Department Team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications
Additional Requirements
  • Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
  • Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings
  • Complete required coaching certifications (WIAA, Safe Sport, Vector)
Compensation / Benefit Information
  • Stipend for this temporary, term-limited position: $1,110
  • Note:

    stipend amount reflects the total stipend when the coach attends all practices, contests, and team activities, including the post‑season.
