The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Python Backend Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale the core services that power a next-generation space operations platform. This role is focused on backend development, cloud-native architecture, and distributed systems that support satellite tracking, antenna scheduling, and command-and-control services.

You’ll work on production backend services used by real customers, owning features end to end - from design and implementation through deployment and ongoing improvement. Reliability and testability matter, but the emphasis is on building high-quality backend systems
, not writing test frameworks.

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based backend services in a cloud-native environment
• Build scalable APIs and backend systems that support satellite operations and real-time data processing
• Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• Work closely with product and systems teams to translate complex operational requirements into reliable backend services
• Optimize performance, reliability, and observability across distributed systems
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation to support rapid, safe releases

• Strong proficiency in Python for backend development
• Experience with AWS
  , including services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, Cloud Watch, S3, EFS/EBS, EC2, and RDS
• Solid understanding of containerized applications and serverless architectures
• Experience designing and troubleshooting:
• RESTful or event-driven APIs

  SQL and relational databases
• Caching layers and multi-tier backend architectures
• Familiarity with Terraform or similar IaC tools
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions preferred, but not required)
• Proficiency with Git and Git Hub or similar version control systems
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 3+ years of professional experience as a backend or software engineer (Python preferred)
• Experience working in aerospace or a
  startup engineering environment
• Active or eligible security clearance strongly preferred
