As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Bank - API Marketplace Team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team, designing and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. You are responsible for implementing critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions to support the firm’s business objectives.
The API Marketplace team is on a journey to innovate, scale, and enhance the API engineering experience through platform, tooling, and solutions that support the end-to-end developer journey for Chase partners, lines of business, and prospects seeking to leverage Chase Banking APIs.
Job responsibilities:- Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
- Create and maintain scalable, high-performance user interfaces for web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met during software code development.
- Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to drive continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data, using these insights to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
- Work closely with UX/UI designers to translate design concepts into interactive and responsive interfaces, ensuring technical feasibility and optimizing applications for speed and scalability.
- Promote a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect within the team.
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
- Hands‑on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Proficient in coding in one or more languages, such as JavaScript or Java.
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies, such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies, such as Type Script and React, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
- Experience designing API specifications using OpenAPI and hands‑on practical experience in building REST APIs.
- Familiarity with state management libraries (e.g., Zustand, Redux, Context API).
- Experience with frameworks such as React Query and Spring Boot.
- Knowledge of front-end build tools and package managers (e.g., Webpack, Babel, npm/yarn).
- Experience with testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Jest, Enzyme).
- Ability to independently tackle design and functionality challenges with minimal oversight.
