Position Summary

The Diaper and Community Closet Support (Temporary) role provides hands‑on program support to ensure families have consistent access to essential items such as diapers and children’s clothing in a welcoming, organized environment. This position supports the Community Closet and Diaper Bank programs through inventory management, participant support, and data entry.

The role is primarily based at the Family Resource Center in the Roosevelt neighborhood, with regular support at the Wallingford Food Bank and occasional work at satellite sites. This position reports directly to the Family Resource Center Manager and carries out responsibilities aligned with the Principles of Family Support
.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Diaper Bank & Community Closet Support
  • Maintain a welcoming, organized, and accessible environment for families accessing diapers, clothing, and basic needs items

  • Receive, sort, organize, and prepare donated items for distribution

  • Conduct regular inventory counts of diapers and basic needs items across all program locations

  • Track inventory levels and communicate shortages, supply needs, and restocking priorities to the Family Resource Center Manager

  • Restock shelves and storage areas as needed

  • Provide excellent customer service to participants, donors, volunteers, and community members

Data & Administrative Support
  • Enter participant and program data, including welcome forms, surveys, attendance, and pickup logs, in accordance with organizational and funder requirements

  • Maintain accurate records in established data management systems

  • Support participant surveys by distributing and collecting forms and sharing observations with program leadership

General Responsibilities
  • Attend team meetings and check‑ins as scheduled during the temporary assignment

  • Follow organizational policies related to confidentiality, safety, and equity

  • Work occasional evening or weekend hours as needed to support program operations

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Competencies Required Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse community of individuals and families, including English‑language learners

  • Experience working with individuals and families facing language barriers

  • Strong commitment to equity and social justice

  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism

  • Ability to remain focused and organized in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment

  • Willingness to proactively seek guidance and resources when needed

  • Reliable transportation to travel between program sites within North Seattle

Education & Experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages)
    strongly preferred

  • Minimum of 6 months of customer service experience

  • Previous experience in retail, inventory management, or warehouse support preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database entry, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams

  • Familiarity with infant and children’s items (diapers, clothing, basic needs) a plus

  • Must be able to pass a background check

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs

  • Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching

  • Comfortable working in shared and flexible work spaces

  • Ability to engage in physical activity related to interactions with young children

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.
