$28.00–$35.00 per hour.
Job SummaryTechnicians will repair, maintain, perform preventive maintenance, and execute advanced reactive service diagnostics and repairs on commercial kitchen and refrigeration equipment. Equipment serviced includes fryers, combi ovens, convection ovens, grills, steamers, walk‑in coolers/freezers, reach‑in refrigeration units, and ice machines from brands such as Hobart, Vulcan, Garland, Frymaster, Turbo Chef, True, Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Traulsen, among others. Technicians respond to dispatch calls using a company‑owned vehicle, service existing customers, inspect equipment visually to identify malfunctions, dismantle machines to gain access to problems, inspect parts, replace worn or defective components, realign and adjust components, and test equipment operation after repair.
They also review inventory, order parts, maintain equipment inventory, prepare equipment for installation, and assist with installations and removals.
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform preventive maintenance (PM), advanced reactive diagnostics, and complex equipment repairs.
- Service hot‑side (fryers, ovens, grills, steamers) and cold‑side (walk‑ins, ice machines, reach‑ins) equipment.
- Maintain EPA‑compliant refrigerant handling practices (EPA 608 Certification required).
- Travel within 15–20 miles to corporate offices (Seattle‑only routes); must have a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.
- Proficient with basic hand tools and safe field practices.
- Strong troubleshooting capability and documentation discipline required.
- Call existing customers to determine adequacy of service; listen to and resolve service complaints.
- Visually inspect and listen to machines to determine causes of malfunctions; dismantle machines to gain access to problem areas.
- Inspect parts to detect wear, misalignment or other problems; remove and replace worn or defective parts; repair broken parts; realign and adjust components; test machine operation after repair.
- Review inventory and order parts; ship and receive machines; maintain equipment inventory.
- Set up and operate mechanical equipment and small hand tools such as drills, grinders and welding torches for machine repair.
- 5+ years of prior field experience with commercial kitchen and refrigeration service.
- 1+ year of experience in HVAC and preventive maintenance (preferred).
- Weekends off with a consistent weekday schedule.
