The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill one full-time permanent position for Construction & Maintenance Project Supervisor (CMPS) at Mission Creek Corrections Center. Under the direction of the Director of Prison and Operations Maintenance, this role supervises building and grounds maintenance and construction trades to improve public safety. - Supervises and serves as lead worker of a Maintenance team engaged in maintenance, construction, and repair of buildings, building systems and other structures, roads, pathways and walks, fences, equipment and related facilities per the Mission Creek Warm Closure Protocol.
- Inspect, diagnose, service, repair, install, and conduct preventive/corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems (e.g., grease interceptors, plumbing, boilers, low voltage systems, exhaust fans, appliances, sewer systems, storm drains, and water sampling).
- Inspect, diagnose, service, install, and conduct preventive/corrective maintenance on buildings and structures (e.g., kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, office equipment, office moves, flooring, walls, doors, windows, roofs, drains); construct, maintain, and repair grounds, roads, pathways, walks, and fencing, including striping parking stalls.
- Perform repairs on hinges, doors, jams, locks and door operating mechanisms; replace lighting (bulbs, tubes, fixtures).
- Build, texture, patch, sand, paint, and repair walls/ceilings/siding.
- Assist with HVAC repairs to keep critical systems operational.
- Operate and maintain equipment as required (e.g., cars, trucks, utility carts, scissor lift, boom truck, forklift, backhoe, bobcat, dump truck).
- Manage and dispose of hazardous waste/Washington State dangerous waste.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and maintenance personnel to resolve maintenance issues and capital project needs.
- Escort DOC and non-DOC visitors inside the facility and grounds as needed.
- Maintain files and records for regulatory reporting within required time frames.
- Schedule delivery and pickup of project-related materials.
- Maintain vegetation and landscape; perform herbicide applications to control vegetation inside and outside the secured perimeter, and maintain related inventory and records in accordance with state laws and safety guidelines.
- Oversee snow and ice removal operations.
- Maintain tools and equipment related to maintenance, vegetation control, and herbicide application.
- Provide safety training to Maintenance Department employees at MCCCW.
- Oversee accurate timekeeping and approval for Maintenance employees at MCCCW.
- Record work performed by completing work orders in Asset Planner daily and track unassigned work via work order requests.
- Notify and brief the Director of Prison and Operations Maintenance of system failures and prolonged issues affecting safety-related repairs.
- Order equipment, parts, and machinery using the e-purchasing system with supervisory approval; coordinate with supervisor on scope and materials.
- Adhere to invoicing/accounting procedures for purchases through warehouse staff and the Director of Prison and Operations Maintenance.
- Conduct daily tool accountability checks and sign tools in/out daily.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Valid Driver's license.
- Four or more years of recent experience in construction or building maintenance, or journey-level experience in one of the building trades.
- Two years of direct experience with building maintenance/repair tracking systems to create and track Work Orders, asset management, capital planning, energy improvements, sustainability, etc.
- Knowledge and awareness of local and state building codes.
- Ability to read and work from Architectural and Engineering blueprints and shop drawings; estimate material costs and man-hour estimates.
- Ability to work from various heights, elevated platforms, ladders, mechanical lifts, etc.
- Knowledge and ability to operate various light and heavy equipment (tractors, backhoe, front-end loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, lifts, etc.).
