AboutThis Position
We are seeking a qualified electrician to join our campus facilities team. The role works closely with other trade leads and staff to provide regular facility maintenance and production support for events. The position requires journey‑level knowledge of electrical concepts, principles, methods and codes, as well as a full knowledge of the operational aspects of electrical equipment and systems. The current opening is for the 2nd shift;
schedule selection is based on seniority.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in electrical equipment or control systems such as boilers, pumps, motors, generators, air compressors, fire alarms, refrigerators, overhead doors, and electrical devices on bridges or other electrical devices.
- Install, repair and maintain all electrical systems under the direction of the electrical crew chief.
- Work teamwork and communicate clearly and concisely with staff, venue operators and the public for safe and efficient operations.
- Troubleshoot systems that include some electronics.
- Install lighting fixtures, power outlets, control devices, heaters, thermostats, computer cables or cathodic protection equipment.
- Run conduit and pull wire for new and/or existing electrical installations.
- Modify or rewire existing electrical installations.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment.
- Purchase and/or order electrical supplies or parts from vendors, warehouses or distributors.
- Review blueprints, electrical schematics, project plans and specifications of electrical equipment installations.
- Replace ballasts, drivers & fuses, change lamps in LED, fluorescent, HID and incandescent lighting fixtures.
- Install temporary power systems for special events.
- Completion of an accepted four‑year apprenticeship training program and journey‑level electrician status, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current electrical systems, including computerized lighting and իրական։
- Ability to assess and plan work tasks, provide progress reports.
- Proficiency navigating computer‑based email, time‑keeping, materials management, work‑order and progress‑reporting systems.
- Clear communication over phone and VHF radio.
- Collaborative work style with other work units and clients.

- Excellent customer‑service skills and experience.
- Knowledge of safety issues and requirements.
- A desire for continued industry development.
- State of Washington Journey‑Level Electrical License (EL01).
- Washington State driver license.
- Stand, walk or bend for extended periods.
- Lift objects heavier than 50 pounds.
- Work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Work in confined spaces or at heights from ladders and scaffolds.
- Individual schedules are 4–10 hour days or 5–8 hour days; weekend days may be part of normal schedule. 1st shift is 5‑am to 3:30‑pm and 2nd shift is 12‑pm to 10:30‑pm; shift schedules and hours may change to meet the needs of Seattle Center.alsy currently open for 2nd shift.
The full pay range for this step‑progression position is $58.23–$62.99 per hour. New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression ($58.23 hourly). Current City employees’ starting rate of pay will be based on personnel rules regarding promotions.
