Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

DUTIES:- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, air conditioning, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation on the company‑issued service truck.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Work with and listen effectively to clients to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations.
- Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift jacks, and other equipment as required.
- Document work according to company standards, upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings notes.
- Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre‑ / post‑trip inspections.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or equivalent combination of degree/certification and experience).
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
- Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Must complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
- Current and valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical (card with 4 months or less requires a DOT physical).
- Must be 21 years or older and hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license.
- Valid driver’s license required; must obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
