Marine Field Technician – Salmon Bay, Seattle, WA

Job Type: Full-time

Is This You?
  • You have 2+ years of experience servicing, repairing, and overhauling Cummins Marine, MTU, Volvo Penta, or Detroit Diesel engines.
  • You have experience with gas and diesel inboard and outboard engines.
  • You are proficient with computer‑based diagnostic tools for communication and documentation.
  • You thrive in a hands‑on, fast‑paced field service environment.
  • You are seeking a stable, non‑travel position in the Salmon Bay region.
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and inspect marine engines to identify and resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems, ensuring optimal engine performance.
  • Perform complete overhauls and repairs, following manufacturer guidelines and best practices.
  • Conduct sea trials and performance adjustments to verify operational efficiency.
  • Utilize warranty programs and evaluate service and parts options for cost‑effective solutions.
  • Maintain detailed service records, ensuring accuracy in documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with customers on‑site, ensuring clarity and satisfaction.
  • Follow all safety protocols, keeping work areas organized and compliant.
  • Complete manufacturer training (online and in‑person) to stay up to date with industry standards.
Requirements Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Technical schooling preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in marine engine repair and service.
  • Experience with Cummins Marine, MTU, Volvo Penta, or Detroit Diesel engines (preferred).
  • Gas and diesel I/O experience is a plus.
  • Washington State Boater’s Card is a plus.
Technical Skills
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities for diesel engine performance issues.
  • Proficiency with PC‑based diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Skilled in using electrical multimeters and diesel engine electronic controls.
  • Ability to complete repairs efficiently and independently.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Other Requirements
  • Own a full set of mechanic’s tools (metric and SAE).
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable under company policy.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work vehicle.
  • All offers of employment are contingent upon a background check and drug screening.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour (based on experience).
  • Field Pay Bonus:
    Additional $1.50 per hour when working in the field.
  • Work Schedule:

    Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
  • Location:

    Salmon Bay, Seattle, WA.
  • Travel: up to 25%.
  • Non‑union position.
