Field Service Technician role at Raymond West

Raymond West is looking for a Field Service Technician to join our service team! The primary objectives of the Service Technician are:

  • Proficient repair and service of the customer’s equipment.
  • Maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management.
  • Represent and sell the entire company.
  • Maintain and exceed productivity goals.
  • Work within all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA.
Raymond West is committed to providing customers with end‑to‑end warehouse solutions, including lift trucks, racking, conveyor, dock and door, rentals, parts, and service. Our customers trust us to provide the right supply‑chain solutions and services to keep their businesses up and running. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
  • Update training and skills on an ongoing basis.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Maintain a profitable billing level.
  • Follow all Service Department procedures.
  • Communicate with assigned Field Supervisor.
  • Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate, and orderly fashion.
  • Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
  • Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
  • Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle (inside and outside).
  • Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
  • Always represent the entire company.
  • Pass Raymond Certification and re‑certification if applicable.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record per the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Report any accidents, whether self or customer.
  • Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
  • Be willing to work overtime when necessary and coordinate it with supervisor.
  • Follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook.
  • Follow safety procedures and use good judgment regarding safety.
  • Be willing to work out of town as necessary.
  • Establish a positive rapport with customers.
  • Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by Service Supervisors or Managers.
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees, coworkers, and managers in other departments.
  • Willingness to work off‑hours as needed and assume additional responsibilities.
  • Consistently fulfill essential job functions in a safe manner.
  • Self‑motivated with efficient time management.
  • Customer‑oriented with professional behavior at all times.
  • Willing to follow mandates and procedures of the Service Department.
  • Skill in face‑to‑face customer interactions.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and workers.
  • Pass all required certifications.
  • Working knowledge of basic DC and AC electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Raymond Level 1 Certified or working toward that goal, if applicable.
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than the allowable points on record, if applicable.
  • Maintain personally owned tools per approved minimum tool list.
  • Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level.
  • Take Direction and work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical abilities.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
  • Quick learner, accurate, and flexible.
  • Motivation for continuous self‑development and training.
  • Willingness to assume additional responsibility as required.
