Director​/Principal Scientist, Biology

Dovetail is seeking a talented and experienced biologist to join our growing and dynamic team at the Director or Principal Scientist level. • Lead drug discovery programs. Design and execute strategies for research programs with focus on human biology.
• Initiate novel programs across a variety of disease areas. Develop scientific hypotheses and enumerate unmet needs.
• Drive day-to-day operations of antibody-based drug discovery programs from initiation through screening to lead selection.
• Independently develop, perform, and troubleshoot in vitro assays. Analyze and present data to project teams and leadership. Define next steps.
• Work with internal cross-functional teams to advance novel biotherapeutic programs.
• Compile data packages for DC selection, write sections of regulatory documents, prepare materials for external interactions and BOD meetings.
• Mentor and develop junior staff in laboratory work.
• Apply innovative approaches and stay current with advances in biologics, competitive landscape and clinical trial learnings to strengthen existing programs and pipeline opportunities.

• Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, pharmacology or related discipline and minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience, including people management.
• Proven experience in the leadership of multiple preclinical antibody programs including project initiation and strategy and day-to-day operations.
• Demonstration of excellence through project advancement from discovery to clinical candidate selection. Robust understanding of drug screening and optimization for lead selection.
• Experience in preparation of data packages, writing study reports, IND sections and other regulatory documents.
• Extensive hands-on expertise in cell-based methodologies, including but not limited to cell-based functional assays (both cell lines and primary cells), ELISA, MSD, flow cytometry and qRT-PCR.
• Experience in interaction with various stakeholders, including communications with BOD and partners, transferring protocols to CROs, setting up and managing external collaborations.
• Self-driven and proactive, with the ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving objectives in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
