Job DescriptionCreate an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities- Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the checkout lane.
- Use the Point of Sale (POS) system to handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and other payment methods.
- Adhere to cash handling limits and work to control loss.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs.
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Apply policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with seasonal and special ads.
- Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management.
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report needed repairs.
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome, appreciated, and informed.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a fast‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Resolve conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

The final rate of pay is determined at store level based on prior equivalent experience.
