OverviewWe are seeking a Junior Lab Associate to support day-to-day laboratory operations for a leading life sciences organization in Seattle, Washington
. This is a 6-month contract opportunity with the intention of transitioning the selected candidate into a full-time position based on performance and business needs.
The Junior Lab Associate will play a key role in maintaining laboratory efficiency by preparing media and buffers, supporting scientists with experiments, managing lab inventory, and ensuring proper lab maintenance and cleanliness. This role is ideal for individuals with hands‑on laboratory experience who are highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare media, buffers, and chemical solutions to support cell culture experiments and other laboratory activities under the guidance of the Lab Manager.
- Assist with troubleshooting and investigations related to media and buffer preparation.
- Support scientists with media and buffer analysis and related lab activities
. - Maintain and regularly inventory laboratory supplies
, chemicals, and reagents. - Assist with ordering laboratory materials and consumables as needed.
- Support initiatives to improve laboratory productivity and efficiency
. - Perform routine cleaning, organization, and maintenance of lab equipment and work spaces
. - Autoclave solutions and cell culture assemblies when required.
- Assist other laboratory groups with solution preparation and lab maintenance tasks as needed.
- Follow established safety protocols and laboratory procedures
. - Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma with 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience
, OR - Strong organizational and time management skills
. - Foundational knowledge of basic chemistry concepts
, including pH, osmolarity, and solution preparation calculations. - Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document scientific observations.
- Experience using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace applications
. - Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
. - Fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Associate degree with 2+ years of laboratory experience
, OR - Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field (entry‑level candidates welcome).
- Experience with cell culture media and buffer preparation
. - Familiarity with cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating scientific laboratory equipment
. - Experience with process improvement initiatives such as Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast‑paced laboratory environment
