This position is eligible for Supplement Basic Shift Premium for 24/7 Facilities. Employees who are assigned to a facility that provides direct care to residents, patients, and/or clients and whose duties are required to be performed on location will receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour of supplemental basic shift premium for each hour of basic shift premium. This shift premium does not apply to overtime hours.

The supplemental basic shift premium shall expire on June 29, 2027.

“On-call” is defined as positions where the work is intermittent in nature, is sporadic and does not fit a particular pattern. On‑Call employees are utilized to support operational staffing needs. Shifts for on‑call staff are scheduled on a rotational basis. The on‑call expectations for this position requires that staff be available for at least four (4) full shifts per month.

This position is not eligible for telework.

These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star.

As an On‑Call Registered Nurse 2, you’ll assist in the delivery of nursing and nursing-related care to vulnerable Veterans in need of skilled nursing care. You will have the ability to lend direction and a caring attitude to your patients. You will also assist and monitor assigned residents with activities of daily living based on current nursing standards of practice and with a heart for our mission.

• Maintain healthcare records according to current policies and procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments for residents unable to do their own or monitor self‑pour medications of residents.
• Maintain incident log and provide learning experiences and feedback regarding incidents for direct care staff on unit.
• Encourage and empower residents and staff to meet residents' needs and requirements in a respectful and homelike environment.
• Maintain open communication and information‑sharing with staff.
• Assist in the presentation of training materials to staff.
• Perform nursing assessments of residents as necessitated by the condition of the resident, and on a quarterly basis for the completion of the Minimum Data Set.
• Assume responsibility for self‑development by awareness of new techniques and medications.
• Make rounds on a regular basis to ensure compliance with expectations of the unit.

• Currently holds a valid RN license from the State of Washington.
• One year professional nursing experience.

A combination of education and experience may be considered on a year‑for‑year basis. Experience must be relevant to the position.
