Overview
As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient s family, significant others, and members of the health care team.
May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Children s strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e., Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, Workforce Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access (IDEA) etc.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in a family-centered approach using the Nursing Care Process.
- Collaborate with patients, families, significant others, and health care team members to deliver safe care.
- Provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, LPNs, CNAs, CMAs, and others as defined by policy and state regulations.
- Support Seattle Children s strategic goals and initiatives in daily work (e.g., CPI, error prevention, patient safety, IDEA).
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments.
- Driving record acceptable to Risk Management (per driver s license requirement noted below).
- Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license required to work in.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required at time of hire unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area. BLS must be maintained in current status until the incumbent obtains the appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area.
Note:
PEARS or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS in certain areas; ACLS not a substitute. - PEARS, PALS, and other certifications by practice area as specified (e.g., areas requiring PEARS within 6 months; areas requiring PALS within 3 months; CAP/CMS documentation for point-of-care testing if applicable).
- Nur ses in designated areas must obtain PEARS or PALS as required and maintain current certification thereafter.
- Where applicable, licensure requirements for on-call and out-of-state patients (e.g., WAMI region licensure for Dialysis, Alaska/Montana/Idaho within specified timelines).
- Documentation required for certain positions (e.g., diploma/transcript for certain moderate complexity point-of-care testing per CAP/CMS).
- Bachelor s degree in Nursing.
- Pediatric health care nursing experience.
Compensation Range $47.60 - $89.80 per hour.
Salary Information This compensation range is based on full-time employment (2080 hours/year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
