Pay RangeBase pay: $38.00/hr – $38.00/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience).
Position SummaryFunctions as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team under direct supervision of a nurse, implementing and supervising nursing services in medical detoxification and residential programs. Supports a recovery‑oriented, person‑centered treatment experience by participating in treatment planning, documentation, implementation, milieu management, and crisis de‑escalation.
Essential Job Functions- Administer drugs, medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law.
- Complete other tasks within the scope of licensed practical nurses and program services procedures.
- Pre‑screen new patients for appropriateness for admission, including TB screening.
- Obtain physical assessment data and health history.
- Inventory and care for patients’ personal possessions.
- Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including transcribing and administering routine and prescribed medications in accordance with procedures established by medical staff and nursing leadership.
- Record patient observations and activities in patient records accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy.
- Actively and compassionately engage patients to encourage treatment participation after detoxification.
- Maintain a safe environment applying principles of medical asepsis and infection control techniques and universal precautions.
- Attend regular detox staff meetings.
- Follow all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection, including alcohol‑drug patient confidentiality (42 CFR) and HIPAA (45 CFR).
- Attend training as required by agency.
- Maintain current working knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
- On‑call availability: 3 shifts per month (including 1 weekend), 1 major and 1 minor holiday per calendar year.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. - Current licensure in Washington State as Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s license.
- BLS certified.
- Compassionate understanding of chemical dependence as a disease.
- Preference for persons in recovery from chemical dependency.
- Experience in detoxification services.
- Knowledge of substance abuse, withdrawal symptoms, and community resources related to addiction medicine.
- Ability to work with addictive clients in a community health setting.
- Special competencies and skills in substance abuse/dependence/opioid treatment, women, urine screens, and phlebotomy.
- Pass required background checks.
- Ability to work independently.
Direct nursing care requires lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, stooping, and lifting to 50 lbs without assistance. Most work is in usual office conditions; noise level typical of office environments with telephones and background interruptions. Duties may involve exposure to hazardous materials such as body fluids and needle sticks.
