As an RN PACU, you'll have the opportunity to work with an outstanding team of healthcare professionals who are passionate about providing exceptional care to patients. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing patients in the critical recovery period after surgery, ensuring that they receive the best possible care during their post-anesthesia recovery.

Job specification

• Assessing and monitoring the vital signs of post-anesthesia patients, such as blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and respiratory rate.
• Administering medications, including pain relief medications, as ordered by the physician and monitoring the patient's response to them.
• Assisting with the recovery of patients from anesthesia and monitoring for potential complications.
• Ensuring that patients are adequately prepared for discharge from the PACU, including providing post-operative education and instructions.
• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and physical therapists, to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan for each patient.
• Document all aspects of the patient's care, including vital signs, medications administered, and any complications or adverse reactions.

Candidate requirements

• A degree in nursing from an accredited institution
• An active and unrestricted registered nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA
• Completion of training or certification in post-anesthesia care and/or critical care nursing
• A minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in a critical care setting, such as ICU or ER
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
• Knowledge of infection control protocols and the ability to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work flexible shifts and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
