Grants Program Analyst, Momentum Fellow (BFF)

Posted on May 23, 2019

ABOUT THE MOMENTUM FELLOWSHIP

The Momentum Fellowship is a program offered through Philanthropy Northwest to diversify the field of philanthropy. We do this through developing a pipeline of leaders of color and other underrepresented groups in foundations across the Pacific Northwest. This fellowship works with new and current practitioners in philanthropy to build leadership skills; explores issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in grantmaking; and network with other philanthropic professionals.

Along with the day to day functions of the specific position, fellows participate in cohort retreats, monthly cohort calls, professional coaching, and networking opportunities.

The Bezos Family Foundation believes children are born with potential and deserve the experiences and environments needed to learn and thrive. Our programs and funding are guided by the science of learning and aim to transform how we support all young people—especially those furthest from opportunity—to pursue their own path for success.

THE JOB

The grants team sources and supports grant partnerships with organizations whose work is aligned with the foundation’s vision. Our partners are innovators that work in early learning, K-12 education, and adolescent development research and practice. This role will provide research, data gathering, and analyses to support the foundation’s grantmaking functions.

The fellowship is a permanent and full-time position located in Seattle, WA. Ideal candidates are from diverse communities underrepresented in philanthropy, and are interested and committed to developing a career in philanthropy.

  • Produce and present written and verbal summaries of research efforts to internal stakeholders.

  • Provide back up to the grants associate as needed to manage and track grants documentation and payment processes, including grant agreements, tax verification, payment schedules, transmittal letters, fulfillment, and progress reports.
  • Serve as secondary administrator of the grants management system, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all grants records and current contacts.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and send advance materials for grant meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of two tothree years relevant experience; nonprofit or education experience is a plus.
  • Robust analytical skills and comfort with both qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., impact measurement, financial, and statistical analysis), and able to effectively synthesize analyses for multiple audiences.
  • Excellent writing skills with ability to translate complex concepts into simple (elegant) prose.
  • Strong project management skills and exceptional attention to detail; ability to organize a workplan and execute against deadlines; appropriately seek input from team members.
