Grant and Contract Specialist
Program – Social Services | Regular Full‑Time | $34.62–$37.00 DOE
The Salvation Army seeks a committed professional to support the Northwest Division’s grant and contract management. The role safeguards compliance, monitors funding, and provides strategic insights to ensure programs meet donor regulations and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Process and review all government and corporate grant and contract agreements, ensuring content meets Salvation Army protocols.
- Coordinate the lifecycle of grants, including reporting, compliance, and closeout, under guidance of the Assistant Divisional Social Services Director.
- Monitor spend‑down of all awarded grants and contracts, verify that reports are supported by the organization’s financial records.
- Conduct periodic audits and advise senior contract compliance staff on critical grant management issues.
- Maintain an online contract database and schedule of federal awards to ensure compliance with federal and other regulations.
- Support the development of proposals, including written materials, budget development, and viability assessment of funding opportunities.
- Provide training on grant and contract requirements, policies, and procedures to program staff.
- Generate timely reports on contract activity on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Assist units within the division, including office support, data entry, and report generation for accounting teams and Medicaid billing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Finance, or Business.
- Three to five years of experience in grant monitoring, writing, and contract compliance.
- At least two years of knowledge of nonprofit grants and compliance management, interpreting donor rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet time‑sensitive deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Valid driver’s license; must pass Salvation Army background checks and meet MVR driver qualifications.
- Willingness to support the Salvation Army’s mission, philosophy, and Safe From Harm training within 30 days of employment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and aptitude for new software programs.
- Experience with integrated database applications and ability to use new software with basic training.
- Computer literacy, including use of Salvation Army‑approved word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and graphics software.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with systematic effort to obtain data or feedback.
