Job Description

The Marketing Manager drives growth for the Communication Leadership master's program through strategic marketing and content creation, with a focus on attracting new international student populations while also managing domestic outreach. As with many other professional master’s programs, the student population is predominantly international, with students from around the world. Currently, no marketing agency serving programs at UW has a system to target international outreach, and only domestic campaigns are deployed.

To create a cohesive and globally relevant marketing strategy, an expert is needed to build and implement a strategic plan for the program’s marketing outreach and assess how to deploy resources and partnerships. This role advances the unit's mission by building the program's brand identity, producing engaging content across media channels, and executing targeted recruitment campaigns that position Communication Leadership as a globally recognized graduate program.

Reporting to the Associate Director and the Director, this position bridges marketing strategy with operational execution, ensuring cohesive messaging and effective outreach to prospective students worldwide.

  • Manages, designs, and deploys global marketing strategy and content for the Communication Leadership program and special events, with emphasis on prospective students and building international recruitment outreach and marketing strategy.
  • Oversees the allocation of marketing budget, messaging of marketing content, supervising student employees creating content, identifying international recruitment opportunities, and multicultural marketing strategies, conducting market research on target international regions and demographic trends, coordinating with admissions teams to align recruitment campaigns with enrollment goals, and manages digital advertising campaigns across multiple platforms and languages.
  • Oversees content creation for the Communication Leadership social media channels and website.
  • Designs and deploys marketing strategy, and content for online course, and other short courses, domestically and internationally.
  • Developing partnerships with international education agents and agencies, organizing and representing the program at national professional conferences and events, analyzing campaign performance metrics and ROI to optimize marketing strategies, ensuring all marketing materials comply with university rules, maintaining relationships with alumni networks in key international markets for referral programs, and collaborating with academic departments to highlight program strengths relevant to international student interests.
  • Identifying and executing sponsorship and collaboration opportunities for recruitment and brand awareness, including liaising with marketing agencies executing paid ad campaigns.
Lead Responsibilities
  • Manages marketing and content strategy for the program, overseeing all social media and content design for program channels, including You Tube, newsletters, websites, and international channels.
  • Implements processes and procedures for marketing outreach for the program initiatives. Manages the allocation of program resources for marketing and advertising across national and international channels.
