Material Handler/Heavy Equipment Operator - Reports to:
Production Supervisor - Shift: Rotating 12‑hour shifts (4 on / 4 off). Swing from day to night every month.
- Wage Scale: $36.96 – $42.36 with potential for overtime

- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Operate the front‑end loader on barges to offload raw materials, including loading equipment onto the barge and completing the material removal process.
- Operate a dump truck, forklift, man‑lift, and other heavy equipment to transport raw materials, clinker, and other items within the plant.
- Attend to barge security, inspect barge support equipment, and maintain material conveying systems as required.
- Operate a sweeper and water truck to maintain dust control.
- Perform pre‑shift inspections on heavy equipment, conduct preventive maintenance, and maintain proper oil levels, air filter replacement, lubrication, and equipment cleanliness.
- Assist with construction projects, general cleanup, and production operations as needed.
- Assist with unloading rail cars as needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures for operating and maintaining vehicles.
- Assist other departments as needed for vacation coverage and relief.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
The Material Handler must become familiar with and participate in initial and annual ISO 14001 training.
To Succeed in This Position, You Will Need- High school graduation or equivalent is required.
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Willingness to learn; training will be provided.
- Minimum of one year of related mobile/heavy equipment operation experience required.
- Ability to safely operate trucks, dump trucks, bobcats, various heavy capacity loaders, forklifts, and other related equipment.
- Ability to operate a shovel, wheelbarrow, jackhammer, weed eater, hand and power tools, hoists, compressors, and other specialized tools.
- Ability to estimate stockpile volumes.
- Stamina and flexibility to maintain a steady work pace.
- Work requires walking, climbing, bending, gripping, twisting, pushing, pulling, working in awkward positions, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to work at heights up to 250 ft.
The work is performed in a shop environment as well as outdoors throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise—compliance with specified safety guidelines is required. Exposure to high elevations (up to 250 ft) and all weather conditions is expected. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
