Position OverviewBoeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is seeking multiple Machinist Assemblers Precision to join our Machinist departments in either Seattle, WA or Tukwila, WA
. Machinists in this position participate in the design, fabrication, and assembly of various production and research projects. Using precision machines such as lathes, grinders, EDM, CNC, and milling machines to support aircraft engineering and production groups.
- Perform bench work (e.g., drilling, honing, tapping, reaming) on production and experimental parts as required.
- Assemble parts using rivets and bolts with correct tools such as rivet squeeze, lock bolt puller, rivet gun, bucking bar, power screwdriver, and ratchet per engineering requirements.
- Plan, lay‑out, and sequence machining operations.
- Analyze and interpret drawings, sketches, blueprints, and verbal instructions to determine work to be performed on precision parts.
- Use shop math, geometry, and/or trigonometry to calculate dimensions.
- Select raw material (e.g., brass, aluminum, steel, composites, wood) for machining or fabrication per drawing or customer requirements.
- Set up, operate, and adjust all common machine tools such as lathes, mills, bridge ports, EDM, and drill presses to accomplish work on precision assemblies.
- Write and edit programs for multi‑axis machines as required.
- Select and check cutting tools, machine accessories, and fixtures; ensure they are in good condition.
- Monitor machine operation for unusual vibration, sounds, and clearance; check gauges and controller displays for warnings; perform visual checks to ensure smooth operation.
- Use precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges) to verify parts free from defects such as finish, dimensions, mismatches, and tool marks.
- Assemble, fit, check, and test developmental machine parts and assemblies to customer specifications.
- Troubleshoot and test precision assemblies with working groups (engineering, production, inspection, MRD) to resolve tooling/production problems.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials (e.g., coolants, solvents) responsibly per Material Safety Data Sheets and use PPE as required.
- Maintain personal tool certifications as required.
- Be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime; some positions may require rotating shifts.
- 1+ years of experience with multiple Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) and/or Computer‑Aided Manufacturing (CAM) applications (e.g., Mastercam, CATIA V5, Unigraphics).
- 1+ years of experience programming, setting up, and running lathes, grinders, mills, and CNC machines.
- Experience reading G and M codes.
- Experience with ENOVIA design tool.
- Completed training as a journeyman machinist.
- Graduated from a Machinist Apprenticeship program or completed a Machining Certificate.

Shift and UnionThese positions are for variable shift (primarily 1st or 2nd shift). The role is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM‑751) Collective Bargaining agreement.
Pay & BenefitsAt Boeing, the Total Rewards package includes competitive base pay, variable compensation, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, HSA, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time off. Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $33.32/hour to start for new union members, with potential to earn up to $61.01/hour at maximum pay.
