We are seeking a highly experienced and security‑minded Senior Staff Engineer - Backend & Cloud, Tech Lead to join our team in a hybrid capacity based in Seattle, WA. This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring a strong foundation in backend development, cloud‑native architecture, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will lead engineering efforts while coordinating effectively with offshore teams to ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.

• Participate in the design, architecture, and implementation of software systems solving complex problems. Includes defining, scoping, and estimating stories and work artifacts.
• Ensure the delivery of high‑quality, scalable, maintainable, and well‑tested code.
• Document designs and provide on‑call support for systems the team owns.
• Serve as the face of the offshore development team and stakeholders.
• Act as the primary point of contact for Engineering Managers (EMs) and other onsite stakeholders.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination between onsite and offshore teams.
• Work with tech leads to align priorities, architecture decisions, and coding standards.
• Break down epics and features into smaller technical stories for the offshore team.
• Coordinate with other tech leads, ensuring that PR approvals follow defined processes.
• Ensure offshore team participation in daily stand‑ups and facilitate transparent status reporting.
• Oversee delivery ownership for offshore contributions, ensuring timely and quality outcomes.
• Manage knowledge transfer and attrition handling within the offshore team.
• Handle issue escalation and proactively resolve blockers impacting the offshore team.
• Provide progress updates and ensure accountability for the offshore team's commitments.

• 10+ years professional hands‑on experience delivering quality software.
• Excellent proficiency in Java and Spring Boot framework.
• Experience with messaging technologies and streaming platforms (Kafka).
• Experience with RESTful architecture and microservices.
• Proficiency with cloud technologies (AWS, Kubernetes). GCP is a plus.
• Must know modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (Git Lab, CI/CD, Terraform).
• Test automation experience at all levels (Unit, Integration, Regression, Performance/Load).
• Familiar with logging and metrics tools (New Relic, Splunk).
• Should be able to articulate and architect a well‑designed system.
• Familiarity with relational databases is a plus.
• Retail experience is a plus.
• Understanding of modern warehouse management systems is a bonus.
