Additive Manufacturing Machine Technician (2nd Shift)

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a hardworking team of Additive Manufacturing (AM) Engineering Technicians you will be responsible for AM machine set up, operation, monitoring and build-to-build change over, as well as some preventive maintenance. You will monitor and record operational information such as laser melt pool status, material consumption rates, material inventory, and build start/completion dates. You will contribute to the team’s impact on all aspects of Additive Manufactured spaceflight and supporting hardware, continuous improvement, automation, and process development.
The AM Engineering Technician role provides hands-on insight into daily AM machine/equipment functions that may not be well understood by AM Programmers, AM Applications, or management teams. The ideal candidate will apply technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate Additive Manufacturing machines and related processing equipment.
- Monitor manufacturing processes and record operational information (e.g., laser melt pool status, material consumption, material inventory, start/finish times).
- Perform build-to-build changeovers and some preventive maintenance.
- Support continuous improvement, automation, and process development for AM systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance.
- Adhere to high standards of quality and safety in a spaceflight manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of a High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of work experience.
- Proven long-term work history (2+ years).
- Experience operating with complex processes and equipment, including precision medical equipment, robotics equipment, and/or Metallic Additive Manufacturing (AM) machines.
- Ability to work with complex software interfaces to ensure high fidelity information for internal and external customers.
- High standards for quality, attention to detail, and discipline to support human-space-flight goals.
- Ability to demonstrate technical process thinking, identify improvement opportunities, and adhere to schedule constraints.
- Basic proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office.
- 5+ years hands-on Metallic Additive Manufacturing production experience.
- Associates degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Technology, Electromechanical, Optics, Lasers, Machining, or related technical field from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience in an advanced technology operations environment.
- Relocation provided
- Shifts available:
Monday-Thursday 3:00pm-1:30am - Interviews will include a technical assessment
- Shift flexibility to align with changes in business needs
Compensation Range varies by location; WA applicants: $24.74 - $34.63 per hour. Other site ranges may differ.
