We are currently hiring a Senior Development Director based in Seattle. This leader will cultivate and engage volunteers, companies and community stakeholders in advancing the mission of the American Heart Association and drive meaningful support and revenue growth for the Heart and Stroke Walk events in Washington. The position is based in the Puget Sound division and the work is wherever it is most effective – in the field, at home and in our Seattle office.
We have a fast‑paced sales type of environment with the main responsibility of driving revenue in support of our mission. We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

- Directly manage a team of three Development Directors. Demonstrate the American Heart Association leadership competencies and employ effective management techniques in sourcing, recruitment, selection, development, coaching, and leadership to appropriately align, equip, and engage staff to achieve organizational objectives.
- Manage and directly implement the Heart Walk campaign through driving to Association best practices. Directly accountable for achieving revenue goals aligned with funding research, public health, professional education and training and community services.
- Drive the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting, engaging, and activating an influential, financially strong, and volunteer leadership base to support sustained campaign growth. Build recruitment committees and executive leadership committees to identify and engage high level event Chairs and working committees.
- Prospect, solicit, close and steward high‑level corporate and individual donors. Develop and implement year‑round cultivation plans ensuring superior donor relations.
- Provide staff support in planning, developing, implementing, growing, and evaluating campaigns and events consistent with best practices and event timelines. Provide staff support in volunteer leadership recruitment, orientation, and development.
- Collaborate as a part of the Division, Region and Association‑wide team to ensure full alignment with vision and goals and provide consistent support in all aspects of fundraising and other assigned organizational initiatives.
- Ensure that the team operates within appropriate operational and financial boundaries and within the financial capacity available. Operate in accordance with the Association's Fiscal Standard policies and all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
- Communicate proactively and timely with the VP, Development, Executive Director, and other internal and external partners. Consistently deliver on commitments made to internal and external customers.
- 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or other related experience
- University or College degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to do daily local travel and some overnight trips as needed; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis
