Role Summary

This role is responsible for executing on the strategy for development, approval, and management of Inflight Training curricula at Alaska Airlines (AS) and Hawaiian Airlines (HA). As a people leader, the Manager of Inflight Training Program Development leads and establishes priorities for the team to manage Inflight training development, program implementation and assist with instructor education and calibration programs. This position is accountable to ensure all training programs meet all regulatory requirements.

Key

Duties
  • Leads a team and establishes the priorities of instructional designers and content developers.
  • Manages the maintenance and development and partners with the Manager of Inflight Training Delivery on the implementation of Inflight Training curricula.
  • Influences projects and maintains development resource needs.
  • Acts as a collaborative consultant to formulate strategies for flight attendant learning and performance improvement.
  • Cultivates relationships with internal partners including the Association of Flight Attendants, and regulatory agencies for the development, maintenance, approval, and implementation of flight attendant training curricula.
  • Represents Inflight Training on the Inflight Event Review Committee.
  • Develop measures to evaluate the effectiveness of the training program and advises the Director of Inflight Training Development and Delivery of any deficiencies and develop mitigation plans.
  • Influences across the company, working with stakeholders to identify and evaluate training needs.
  • Contributes to the long‑term strategy and planning for Inflight Training evaluation.
  • Works closely with the Director of Inflight Training Development and Delivery and Director of Inflight Safety, Standards and Compliance and other Inflight stakeholders to analyze crew irregularity reports and any other data to support Inflight training operations with timely feedback and training program modifications.
  • Collaborates with Director of Inflight Training Development and Delivery to transition AS Inflight training from N&O to AQP.
  • Shapes culture of the team and beyond through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills Required
  • 5 years of experience in inflight training, training standards and compliance, or related area.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 14

    CFR Part 121 air carrier operations, approved training programs and inflight operations.
  • Knowledge of appropriate FAA Advisory Circulars, applicable regulatory guidance and the flight attendant certification processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must successfully complete 5-6 weeks of Flight Attendant Training (if not already qualified as an AS Flight Attendant) and maintain certification as a Flight Attendant.
  • Ability to hold and maintain AS Inflight Instructor qualification.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
  • 2 years of experience as an Inflight Training Representative, or Inflight Standards Representative
  • Degree or Certification in Instructional Design.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Proven ability to influence learner outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage business acumen and analytic capability to negotiate win‑win solutions.
