Job Description
UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a Manager, Ancillary Applications .
Work Schedule- 100% FTE – 40 hours per week
- Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 08:00 – 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday
UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

Job Responsibilities
- Providing leadership to the Ancillary Applications team
- Managing electronic health record applications in a production environment
- Ensuring application lifecycle planning and support
- Creating and fostering collaborative cross-team knowledge sharing
- Vendor relationship management
- Business relationship management
Ancillary Applications cover many varied aspects of patient care, notification support systems, clinical documentation, and surgical applications. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing and supervising the Ancillary Applications team
- Managing systems operations, processes, and design standards
- Managing customer relationships
- Ensuring the availability and stability of mission-critical clinical and support applications
- Working with customers to provide exceptional customer service
- Contract review and evaluations
- Coordinating all Ancillary Applications activities in the production environment
- Working with the vendor on issues and improvements for system function and stability
- Participating in the annual budgeting lifecycle
Degree:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
6+ years’ experience must include the below:
- 4+ years’ experience mentoring, leading, or managing technology and/or business professionals. This experience should include leading a team of EHR IT professionals with responsibility for training, assigning, scheduling, and prioritizing work, reviewing completed work assignments, and performance management.
- Must have demonstrated skills in prioritizing the work of a team.
- Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities with proven ability to influence in a matrix environment.
- Proven ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and provide guidance and leadership to staff.
- 4+ years’ managing system vendor relationships.
- 4+ years’ involvement with process improvement.
- 3+ years' professional work experience performing system design and writing technical specifications for, configuring, and/or implementing, application systems.
- Healthcare industry experience, including experience with clinical information systems.
- Knowledge of all phases of software development lifecycle for vendor supplied software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage small to medium sized IT projects and/or process improvement initiatives.
