Payroll Manager

Join a mission-driven team focused on innovation, operational excellence, and meaningful impact. This role leads a high-performing payroll function supporting both union and non-union employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Role Overview

The Payroll Manager oversees end-to-end payroll operations, manages complex pay rules and collective bargaining agreements, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position partners closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and operational teams to support organizational goals, strengthen controls, and deliver exceptional service to employees and stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience; union payroll experience preferred.
  • 2–4 years of people management experience required (7+ preferred).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of wage and hour laws, multi-state regulations, and union payroll rules.
  • Experience with large-scale HCM/ERP systems (Workday, ADP, UKG, Oracle, Microsoft 365, etc.).
  • Strong background in payroll accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit processes.
  • Proven ability to interpret complex pay rules and CBA language.
  • Skilled in data analysis, problem-solving, and identifying process improvements.
