Description

That's what we do every day a key leader within Amazon's Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team, the Senior Manager over AMER’s Portfolio Strategy team will provide strategic insight into new and existing office spaces within the AMER region by developing and maintaining knowledge of the existing portfolio, occupancy planning approach, and AMER market trends.
You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders and other regional leads (EMEA and APAC) to drive the global portfolio strategy. This role will act as a player/coach by delivering and leading strategic portfolio alignment across the region. This person will be expected to align real estate strategy to business needs in partnership with key GREF stakeholders and maintain a customer‑centric approach.
The role will oversee a team of portfolio strategists and work closely with operations leaders (e.g., portfolio managers and finance), regional occupancy leads, and transaction managers. This person will focus on maximizing financial performance at the asset and market level, and identifying and executing opportunities to increase efficiencies. The role is responsible for achieving the highest portfolio value through successful implementation of property acquisition, disposition, lease and financial restructuring activities at the strategic level, while proactively mitigating risk.
The ideal candidate excels within an entrepreneurial culture – providing vision, leadership, and communication – not afraid to dive deep into details and take ownership. They should also understand the nuance of being approachable, while at the same time consultative – providing direction and recommendations and fostering transparent relationships. The candidate must balance frugality with creativity in offering solutions and approach problem‑solving with an emphasis on root cause.
They must navigate a high level of ambiguity and demonstrate a bias for action, taking calculated risks in a fast‑paced environment.
- 10+ years of senior leadership development and talent management experience
- 10+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- Experience in written and oral communication, including the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive)
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership, or experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision‑making
- Master's degree or equivalent
- Experience in corporate real estate strategy
- Knowledge of real estate industry details, including occupancy planning, lease terms, and financial performance
- Advanced quantitative and analytical skills
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $233,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
