General Counsel and Chief Commercial Officer (Axiom Consulting and Project Management LLC; Johns' Creek, GA):
Specific responsibilities of the General Counsel and Chief Commercial Officer include:
Overseeing all legal aspects of Axiom including providing strategic legal counsel, managing regulatory compliance, handling contract negotiations, and supporting mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions. Identifying and mitigating risks, advising on corporate governance, and leading initiatives that align with the company’s business objectives. Overseeing all commercial aspects of Axiom’s commercial strategy, supporting growth, and ensuring profitability through optimized business development practices.
Providing other subconsultant commercial and legal advisory services to other major infrastructure-related owners or design-builders, for example by providing thorough examination of contract documents in a commercially beneficial and cost-effective manner compliant to the federal Department of Transportation (and its subsidiary agencies) and state regulations, and the local infrastructure owner’s policies and procedures. Supporting the growth of Axiom’s business in North America by promoting project delivery subconsultant services as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with Axiom’s current and prospective clients by successfully delivering to current contractual requirements.
Serving as Axiom lead counsel within joint ventures or consortium bid teams, and support Axiom’s work in relation to major private and government bids, design/build contract administration and pre & post-award support for major global infrastructure projects, including claims and dispute management. Telecommuting permitted. 15% of domestic travel to client locations.
Minimum requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree or its equivalent plus 10 years of experience as a major
contracts and commercial lawyer.
Must have:
Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. state. 10 years of experience in providing commercial and legal advisory services for major U.S. federally funded projects. Proven expertise in compliance with Federal Transit Administration requirements and Federal Acquisition Regulations. Significant experience in managing and administering complex contracts, including design-build and public-private partnership contracts, including mitigating legal and commercial risks on multi-billion-dollar projects.
Demonstrated success in negotiating and securing financial closure of multi-billion-dollar design build infrastructure project contracts, including contracts exceeding $1 billion in value. Proven expertise in alternative project delivery methods, including Design-Build, Construction Manager/General Contractor, and Progressive Design-Build contract models. Demonstrated direct experience developing and customizing RFQ, RFP, and contract templates tailored for large infrastructure projects, in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Extensive experience in managing project-related disputes, claims, and compliance issues to safeguard project continuity and reduce risk exposure. Strong hands-on Microsoft and Adobe software skills.
