Technical Metering Operations, a group within Seattle City Light's Transmission & Distribution Business Unit, has an opportunity for an Electrical Construction & Maintenance Supervisor (TMO Supervisor). This role is responsible, through subordinate crew chiefs, to supervise the daily work of TMO’s specialized crews engaged in the installation, maintenance, repair, testing and troubleshooting of meters, workload planning and job forecasting, material forecasting.

This position will report to the TMO’s Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for safety and compliance. Participate in several committees involving employee safety, grassroots safety, construction standards etc. that affect overall departmental operations.
  • Oversee and supervise 30+ employees.
  • Make daily personnel assignments and perform administrative and field supervisory work to coordinate the day-to-day operations.
  • Go to the work site to monitor jobs for progress and completion of plans, work orders, materials, specialized equipment, contract services and crew availability to ensure conformance to safe work practices.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, honesty, openness, and accountability within your teams and across the organization.
  • Schedule, recommend and implement training programs for staff to follow (including safety training), monitor Unit's training matrix to assure all assigned courses are scheduled and completed.
  • Provide training and support to apprentices.
  • Work with crew chiefs and crew coordinators to schedule work assignments and adjust to changing field conditions Comply with company-wide Safety program and strive to maintain an accident-free environment.
  • Reviews and resolves personnel matters, such as hiring, employee relations/performance management, labor relations.
  • Conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews of staff.
  • Supervise purchasing, forecast resource requirements and submit budget recommendations to management, and prepare budget requests. Work with Procurement department to assure the proper coding and payment of invoices.
  • Prepare reports for management review such as monthly workload forecasts and bi-weekly activity reports. Prepare proper documentation to track overtime approvals, travel paperwork, and verify the use of correct work order numbers for specific projects and work requests.
  • Plans and schedules work with other units, such as project managers, engineers, civil, generation, stations, line, property managers, etc.
  • Review departmental operations and recommend changes to management.
  • Maintain and update reports and office records.
  • Promote quality and customer service.
  • Requires travel to various SCL work locations including remote generation facilities.
  • May perform the duties of an Electrical Services Duty Supervisor, with availability requires on a 24-hour basis to respond to “off hour” emergencies in the department-wide electrical distribution system.
Required Qualifications

Education: Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or college-level coursework in engineering, business or public administration equivalent to a two-year certificate or additional qualifying professional experience.

Experience:

  • Three years' experience in design, construction, maintenance, operation of electrical distribution Systems with voltages in excess of 2000 volts.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work with a diverse work force, excellent customer service, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Certification/License

Current Washington State Driver's License

Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
