Maintenance Mechanic 2 – Building Maintenance, Construction & Facilities Management Office

Bremerton, WA
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic 4, within the State Maintenance and Support Services (SMSS) of the Construction and Facilities Management Office, this position is responsible for performing journey‑level maintenance work required to accomplish all phases of building maintenance and construction work.
The work location of this position is at the Washington Youth Challenge Academy, located in Bremerton, WA. This position is eligible for an on‑site 24/7 facility premium of 5%.
This is a civilian position and does not require military service affiliation.

The WYCA was established under the authority and guidelines of the National Guard Youth Challenge Program. This is a voluntary program which includes a 22‑week residential phase followed by a 24‑month post‑residential phase. The purpose of the program is to provide a highly disciplined, safe and professional learning environment that empowers at‑risk youth to improve their educational levels and become responsible and productive Washingtonians.
The National Guard Challenge Program is one of the most successful alternative education programs designed for high school dropouts or youth that are not progressing in a traditional high school setting and has graduated over 215,000+ Cadets to date.

Responsibilities Journey‑level work in the completion of assigned maintenance and repair efforts.- Maintenance and repair efforts via work orders as assigned.
- Non‑repair and non‑maintenance efforts via work orders as requested by customers (e.g., whiteboards, moving furniture, inspecting facilities, etc.).
- Preventative maintenance assignments for mechanical, electrical and/or structural items.
- Perform grounds efforts (e.g., mowing, edging, and pruning).
- Perform custodial efforts (e.g., cleaning and trash removal).
- Perform snow removal and/or debris removal efforts.
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic 1; or
- High school diploma or GED and three years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, and/or building repair work.
- Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building and maintenance work.
- Occupational hazards and work safety requirements/programs.
- Perform journey level work in all types of building maintenance.
- Read plans and blueprints.
- Effectively layout and perform all types of building maintenance and construction installation, alteration, and repairs.
- Perform basic grounds and custodial services.
- Utilizing Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- The ability to take action to learn and grow.
- The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.
