SummaryThe Facilities Technician supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by providing regular facility maintenance and repairs throughout the campus and is charged with keeping the Museum clean and in good repair. Areas of responsibility include private and public areas such as restrooms, event areas, storage areas, and office spaces. This position performs cleaning and trash removal of exterior spaces and provides support for Museum events, special projects, and facilities related maintenance.
Events support will include the setup and breakdown of non-permanent fixtures such as tables and chairs, while providing good communication for logistics with internal stakeholders. Additionally, this position supports South Loading Dock activities; receiving, logging, delivery of incoming shipments, and upkeep of other loading dock areas.

- Keep outside public areas (parking lots, sidewalks, trash and recycle containers, smoker urns, etc.) clean and neat at all times.
- Provide basic repair and maintenance of Museum buildings, related equipment, and systems, including but not limited to light electrical, plumbing, door operators, furniture systems, painting, and building materials as assigned.
- Provide support for private and Museum sponsored events including setup and breakdown.
- Respond to facility maintenance task requests in a timely, cost-effective manner and complete all required communications throughout the project using our Museum task management system.
- Monitor and appropriately respond to department email in a timely manner.
- As assigned, work on long- and short-term facilities projects.
- Replace light bulbs as needed and directed.
- Assist with routine checks and basic maintenance to Museum vehicles as assigned.
- Pickup building related supplies, materials, hardware, and necessary tools when applicable.
- Assist with the distribution of packages and supplies to departments, as needed.
- Participate in organizing, controlling, cleaning, and maintaining loading docks, maintenance office spaces, and related work and public areas on a regular basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A High School diploma or equivalent, preferred. Associate’s degree in a related field, a plus.
- Two (2) years of previous work experience within Facilities Maintenance.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of basic repair and maintenance of commercial buildings, and systems including some electrical, plumbing, door operators, furniture systems, painting, and building materials.
- Knowledge of various chemicals and materials used in facility maintenance, including but not limited to cleaners, lubricants, sealers, paints, patching compounds, paving, and construction materials.
- Knowledge of safety and security practices, procedures and regulations concerning the proper use of equipment and materials including knowledge of OSHA and WISHA requirements.
- Effective organizational skills

- Proven ability to problem solve; identify, analyze, and correct issues in a timely manner.
- Deadline oriented including the ability to prioritize and accurate complete competing tasks in an efficient manner.
- Ability to work well independently, in a team environment, and with a diverse population of internal and external customers.
- Current WA driver’s license required with an acceptable driving record.
- Able to fulfill certification in the operation of facilities’ equipment that include, but are not limited to forklifts, man lifts, and various motor vehicles.
